So, as of today I still have not found a job. I have been looking since the beginning of September, and still nothing. I have sent many a resume and filled out more applications than I care to count. This is getting really tuff, with the economy in the state it is in and the unemployment rate as high as it is, it is even making it difficult for those of us that have degrees to find a job.
At this point I don't really care what the job is as long as it is a job and it pays. It has to pay more than my unemployment does, which really isn't much. When I was in Michigan I made at least $100 more a week than I do here, but that is neither her nor there. The fact remains that I still need to find a job in order to survive.
All of this makes me wonder if there is something that we the consumers can do in order to help the economy without putting ourselves farther into debt. I think that maybe spending a little more than usual here and there is a good idea. We also need to realize that if we want companies to start hiring again we need to give them the business that they need to make the money to get those positions open again. Unfortunately, many big companies out there are outsourcing their jobs, I am not sure if there is anything that can be done about that, but there has to be something. I am an intelligent person, but when it comes to economics and such things I have no clue, I am a computer person, I am a programmer, that is what I know and that is what I do. I only have a basic understanding of economics, and what I understand is what I have stated, in order for jobs to become available the money has to be spent on whatever it is the company is selling, the more that is spent the better the chance of jobs becoming available. I could be wrong, I don't know.

Christmas or Something Like It
As Christmas looms closer and closer, I become more and more depressed. Why you may ask. Well simply put, I don't have a job and therefore no money to buy even a small little gift for the person most important to me. As a friend posted in his blog earlier, we seem to have forgotten what the true meaning of Christmas is and where it all actually came from.
It started as a Pagan holiday known as Yule, and basically it was a celebration for the return of light and warmth to the world. A celebration for when the ground would start to thaw and crops could begin to be grown again. As time went on it was adopted into Christianity as a way to bring more pagans into the flock. It became known as Christmas a time to celebrate the birth of a child that brought light back into the world. There were not any gifts given nor were they expected. I am not sure how Christmas became associated with gifts and Santa Clause but eventually it did. In between all of this we seem to have forgotten what the true purpose of this time of year was and still should be. Simply it is a time to celebrate and be truly thankful for all we have, our families, our friends, our children. A time of renewal, the return of the "light" and hope to the world.
So why do I get depressed after all I have said? Well because like many people in the world I grew up with gifts for Christmas, and I always used Christmas as a way to try and show my family how much I cared about them and to show them that I was listening when we would go to the store and they would say "I want" whatever it was. It is my way of showing those I love that I care about them very much and to so them how much I appreciate them. I have a hard time actually getting those points across any other way, not to say that I can't, but it is much easier for me to give to people to show them than it is to tell them.
It is sad that this time of year has become a time of not paying your bills in order to get those gifts your family wants. A time when stores expect everyone to spend so much money on gifts and such things that they put themselves into debt, which in turn helps the credit card companies and so on and so forth. We have come to expect gifts from friends and family this time of year as they expect the same from us. This time is really for being with your family and spending quality time with them. Even though you may argue or fight, that is normal in any family, you are still spending time with them and doing your best to show them that you care, and that they mean a lot to you.
With all of this said, there really is only a few more things to say. Merry Christmas everyone, and please use this time of year to really appreciate your friends and family by spending time with them.

Ranting
You know, when you get internet you expect it to work, and you expect it to work at all times, so why is it that some unnamed isp keeps going out on me. I mean every night after 8 pm usually around 9:30 or 10 my internet goes out and will not come back on until the next morning, no matter what I try. So I call and complain, and they tell me how to fix it, only that doesn't work. So I have no choice but to call them back, and again they try to fix it and again it fails. I have to call them back AGAIN for them to finally send a tech out here to look at it and see what is going on. There are only 2 real possibilities as to what is wrong, a) their service just totally sucks, or b) the brand new modem I bought a month ago is faulty and therefore have to take it back and get it replaced.
Now me, being who I am, tend to think that the service just sucks and I would cancel it, only one problem with that though, I am locked into a one year contract with them, so either they fix the problem and I am happy or they can't fix the problem and I am stuck with only about 12 hours of internet connection and be the most unhappy person.
Why am I ranting and raving about this you may ask, well simply put I am paying for internet that works the way it is supposed to, but instead I get faulty, glitchy internet service that so far no one has been able to fix. It is completely ridiculous that anyone should have to put up with this. Now I understand that around 8 pm is when most ppl get online and go to facebook and such things, but come on. If the company knows this then they should know that that is the time they REALLY need to boost their signal so that their customers are happy and not getting pissed off.
So what is your opinion on this, do you think I am right to be pissed off or do you think I am way off base. Comment and let me know.

TSA Way Oversteps its bounds
This is absolutely rediculous. The TSA has gone way to far. This is a woman's breast milk we are talking about here. And considering it is a medical liquid and therefore does NOT have to be xrayed, why put this poor woman through all of this.It scares me to think that something like this might happen to me as I am diabetic and I must use an insulin pump and carry insulin and at least one syringe, plus at least 1 change of pump supplies with me at all times.
We as the citizens of this country should not have to put up, nay DO NOT have to put up with this type of harassment. the government has already taken way more power than it constitutionally has the right to have, that is our fault, we have to take it back from them and put an end to all of this invasion of privacy and embarrassing and harassing over stepping of bounds and misuse of power that all of us are suffering from.
I am aware that some people who read this might think I am insane. I can only tell you that I am not, and I am basing my opinions on my observations of what has been going on recently. Seriously, something must be done and it has to start somewhere with someone, might as well be an unemployed student with no insurance and who is barely making it unemployment check to unemployment check with very little aid from anyone but my partner of 8 years.
The question I really ask you is this, after the woman with the breast milk, who will be the next group of people to feel this shame and humiliation caused by the TSA. Think on that for a while and maybe then you will see.
Gone Are the Immortal Ones
This is a poem I wrote a long time ago, there are others that may follow, but as of now I am unsure if they will or not but I hope you enjoy and feel free to leave a comment.
Gone are the Immortal Ones
There once was magick in the world.
the magick of faieries and elves
wizards and men.
They filled the word
with love and beauty.
They protected all life
from those who would destroy
or enslave it.
Now very little is left
of the magick of the
Immortal ones.
Very few of the ancients remain,
even less of those who remember
a time when magick was in the world.
When none are left,
when all are gone,
who will keep the love
and beauty of this world alive?
Who will protect us
from those who would see it destroyed
or enslaved?
Who will remember the tales
of the Immortal ones?
the magick of faieries and elves
wizards and men.
They filled the word
with love and beauty.
They protected all life
from those who would destroy
or enslave it.
Now very little is left
of the magick of the
Immortal ones.
Very few of the ancients remain,
even less of those who remember

When none are left,
when all are gone,
who will keep the love

or enslaved?
Who will remember the tales

Happy Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving everyone,
Now is the time to really think about everything that you have and really be thankful for it. You may not have have everything that you want. You may not have everything that you think will make you happy, but you have your family and your friends. A place to live, a job, a car. Remember this though, there are many out there that do not have those same things, they may live on the street, they may be unemployed, they may live out of their car. You never know, and you don't know if those same things could happen to you, so be truly thankful for everything that you have in your life for you may not have them at this time next year. And take some time to help those more unfortunate than yourself.

JavaScript is Over
Ok so I had my final for JavaScript tonight, pretty sure I did well on it, maybe not an A but shouldn't be less than a B.
JavaScript was fun, yeah I had some difficulty with it, but this hasn't been the greatest last 3 months. I now get 2 weeks off from school and I start again.
Getting my Bachelors in programming is definitely harder than my associates was, but I have a feeling it will be well worth it.
