TSA Way Oversteps its bounds
This is absolutely rediculous. The TSA has gone way to far. This is a woman's breast milk we are talking about here. And considering it is a medical liquid and therefore does NOT have to be xrayed, why put this poor woman through all of this.It scares me to think that something like this might happen to me as I am diabetic and I must use an insulin pump and carry insulin and at least one syringe, plus at least 1 change of pump supplies with me at all times.
We as the citizens of this country should not have to put up, nay DO NOT have to put up with this type of harassment. the government has already taken way more power than it constitutionally has the right to have, that is our fault, we have to take it back from them and put an end to all of this invasion of privacy and embarrassing and harassing over stepping of bounds and misuse of power that all of us are suffering from.
I am aware that some people who read this might think I am insane. I can only tell you that I am not, and I am basing my opinions on my observations of what has been going on recently. Seriously, something must be done and it has to start somewhere with someone, might as well be an unemployed student with no insurance and who is barely making it unemployment check to unemployment check with very little aid from anyone but my partner of 8 years.
The question I really ask you is this, after the woman with the breast milk, who will be the next group of people to feel this shame and humiliation caused by the TSA. Think on that for a while and maybe then you will see.

The way I see it, this incident, even TSA as a whole, is a continuing result in the knee-jerk reaction to any abnormality. For instance, did you know that, at one point, people could walk up to the President of the USA and speak with him? Many people think it is ridiculous to even think that you should be able to just walk up to the most powerful man on earth. The point is that we USED to be able to do that, but one overt act (an attempted assassination) changed the access we once took for granted. Did you know that anyone used to be able to have a picnic on the White House grounds? Not any more. Now there is an 8' tall wrought iron fence around it. You can't even drive by the White House any more because the street has been blocked off there.
ReplyDeleteEvery time there is a threat, real or perceived, there is a knee-jerk reaction to it. Usually, the result is an irrational reactionary response of overkill. Still, the people are so outraged at whatever the precipitous act is that they demand SOMETHING be done, and done immediately. What that ends up being is something that is not well thought out and is usually less than effective.
Your complaint is about the TSA. Better to take the time to look inside the TSA and discover how your tax dollars are being misspent. Get attention directed on a bigger problem. What happens then is that eventually, someone will look at the process and clean it up. The result is that monies are spent more wisely, but processes are improved to be more effective and more cost-efficient.
The freedoms that we, as Americans, have lost over time is unbelievable. We do not even realize how extensive the erosion of freedoms is. At this point in time, the lost freedoms are not even viewed at something lost, but as a reasonable reality.
How reasonable is it that we pass laws against sexual harrassment and the very people who wrote and passed those laws are exempt? How reasonable is it that the agency in charge of enforcing the Americans with Disabilities Act has to be forced to modify its facility to allow disabled people access to the building? How reasonable is it that the LAWMAKERS are among the biggest LAWBREAKERS? How reasonable is it that we want to be protected against violence, then fight against reforming the conditions that breed we so abhor violence? How reasonable is it that those who fight so fiercely for the right to life, are the very ones who are least likely to personally involve themselves in support programs like adoption, rape counselling, prosecuting incest, etc.?
We as a people are messed up in our collective head. We know what we want, but we fight against those very things and don't even realize it. We allow ourselves to get caught up in reactionary emotionalism and lose sight of what is really important.
Lots of luck trying to recapture those lost freedoms. They first have to be identified. It is a matter of looking at the big picture and coming up with a feasible plan. Then, and only then, should a massive effort be launched to eliminate the barriers to our freedoms. Addressing them one at a time without any type of coordination is basically useless.
Now I will step off my soap box.
Hey, did you see the video about the woman that went through the screening at an airport wore a bikini? And a man walked through wearing only his underwear? They were protesting the overly intrusive search methods employed by the TSA. And did you hear about the men's underwear that is now available that comes with a "leaf insert" to cover that most precious part of the male anatomy? What are we becoming?

ReplyDeleteTo start with, the attempt of the life of a president did contribute to where you can no longer walk up to the president and just talk to him on the street. But what you either do not know or just did not want to post here is, that president that did have an attempt on his life was a president that followed a president that just had been killed. So with that said, we are american citizens here and should have that right to talk to the president. Though when i look back at history and the crazy people of this world, i think the president deserves to be protected from people who want to kill him. No one deserves to be murdered. With the position he holds there will always be people who wants to kill him.
ReplyDeleteNow in my opinion as far as that video goes. I hate it that this has to happen to people. When we have all those thousands of people die just because people from the other side of the world want to kill us on 9-11 then we should learn to be more protective. Yes not everything that they do make sense but you must remember that they are new to this and are trying to learn and get it right. Like Eclaire said above, the people demand it so they are trying to react. I would much rather know that they are trying than to know they are doing nothing at all. I just do not want to be one of those people who go down with the plane because people are more worried about "Our privacy is being invaded" so we must worry that we and our items might be searched and scanned. Lets just increase the chance of people getting killed and do nothing attitude is for the birds. I fly several time a year, and yes it is a hassle but in the end i would rather feel this way than have the chances of my plane going down and me dieing.
Also on the part about we are Americans and should not have to go through this at the airports. We must not forget about the Americans that have been involved in terrorist plots and activities for stupid reasons and money. And lets also mention how the terrorist cells are trying to recruit illegal Mexicans because they know that the liberal side of the governments wants to continue to allow them to flood over and make them citizens WHEN THEY ARE ILLEGAL...
